The Call of the Wild (PG)

14th August 2020 3:00 pm

Buck is a friendly dog, stolen away from his Californian home and dragged to the Alaskan Yukon during the 1890s Gold Rush. All seems lost until he befriends John Thornton, who takes him on an adventure where Buck finds his new calling in the world. Harrison Ford, Karen Gillan and Omar Sy star in this thrilling tale directed by Chris Sanders, based on the book of the same name by Jack London.

Living a carefree life in a large house in Santa Clara, California, Buck the St Bernard Scotch Collie mix dog enjoys his days unaware of what life could be in the world beyond his home. That’s until he’s stolen and ripped away from all he knows.

Taken up to the Yukon, where the Gold Rush of the 1890s attracts many prospectors hoping to make a fortune, Buck is forced into arduous and perilous work that would break the spirit of many other dogs. But not Buck.

When he meets John Thornton (Harrison Ford), who claims to have come to Alaska to get away from everyone, his luck starts to turn around. The new duo head out on a journey that will teach them what true friendship means and introduce Buck to the call of the wild.

Oscar nominee Chris Sanders (The Croods, How to Train Your Dragon) directs The Call of the Wild, based on Jack London’s book of the same name. Academy Award nominee Harrison Ford (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Secret Life of Pets) stars as John Thornton, appearing alongside Karen Gillan (Jumanji: The Next Level, Avengers: Endgame) and Omar Sy (Transformers: The Last Knight, Jurassic World) in this exciting drama that will tug on the heartstrings of the whole family.
