JOHN GARTH
The Worlds of J.R.R.Tolkien – The Places that inspired Middle-earth
The landscapes of J.R.R Tolkien’s Middle-earth are much more than a backdrop to the action. They’re a living part of it, utterly convincing and powerfully evocative. They owe much of their realism and depth to his personal connection with places he knew. Many claims have been made for places supposed to have inspired him. But what were his real touchstones in England and Wales and how did they work their way into his epic tales?
Award-winning Tolkien biographer John Garth takes us on a quest for the truth behind the myth.
