Kate Poels grew up in Malvern on the Herefordshire/Worcestershire border and still spends much of her time here.
When she left school she started out nursing at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children before training as a primary school teacher.
These days she is a full time writer of books for children and adults and loves visiting schools to encourage young writers to make their stories sparkle.
