Gluck: Orpheus and Eurydice
Eternal love, with a price to pay.
Orpheus, grief-stricken musician and son of one of the immortal Muses, makes a deal with the Gods to rescue his dead love, Eurydice. But descending to the Underworld comes at a price – Orpheus must resist the temptation to look at Eurydice until they return to the surface, or risk an eternity without her.
A timeless story of love and loss is brought to life in ETO’s new production of Orpheus and Eurydice. Gluck’s most popular work, Orpheus and Eurydice marked a change of pace for opera, celebrating the myth of Orpheus through the power of the voice and profound theatricality.
Performed in English with English surtitles
