Advanced Drama Course at Malvern Theatres 2018
Malvern Theatres’ Advanced Drama Course returns this August (16th-25th), providing practical skills to help aspiring actors succeed in the industry.
The nine-day intensive course for young adults (aged 16+) is taught by experienced professionals and covers everything from improvisation and stage combat to audition techniques and movement in performance.
This year’s course will be taught by actor Timothy West, director Sophie Boyce Couzens, West End star and Beyond the Barricade’s Andy Reiss, and stage combat expert Keith Wallis among others.
Course content will include acting technique, working with directors, voice craft, movement and musical theatre, as well as stage production.
All participants will also have the experience of a professional photography headshot session and will take home their own professional digital image.
The course costs £250 and entry to the course is by audition.

Nic Lloyd, Chief Executive Malvern Theatres (Course Director)
Sophie Boyce Theatre Director (After Dinner Joke at the Orange Tree Theatre and Zero Down at Theatre 503 and the Edinburgh Fringe). Most recently directed the Tilted Wig and Malvern Theatres co-production of Great Expectations, which is currently touring the UK.
Timothy West, star of stage and screen for over 50 years, Timothy will be returning for a second year as a guest tutor.
Kenton Thomas, Actor & Playwright, currently in King Lear at the Globe Theatre. Kenton’s play ‘When The Shoe Strings Break’ has recently been performed at the RADA Festival, after being workshopped as part of the Old Vic Lab and the Arcola Theatre artist in residence.
Corinne Meredith, an experienced Dance Artist working with the community. Corinne delivers dance for Schools, Nurseries and Higher education. Corinne is also Creative Support Artist for the 2016/2017 National Youth Dance Company at Sadler’s Wells.
Keith Wallis, a professional fight choreographer for Theatre, Film and Opera. Keith is currently the Stage Combat Tutor at the American Musical Theatre Academy, London.
Andy Reiss is Director and performer in the UK’s leading musical theatre concert tour, Beyond the Barricade.
Katie Leeming is currently touring with Beyond the Barricade following an extensive career in musical theatre and the West End, as a performer and choreographer.
Katherine Hurley Actor, Playwright & Producer. Katherine graduated from the London School of Dramatic Art, she’s worked on a variety of fringe productions and short films. Last year she played Benni in Zero Down at Theatre 503 and The Stables Theatre and also Polly in EleXion, at Theatre 503. Katherine is also the co-founder of Angel on The Corner Theatre Company.

Advanced Course in Drama and Performance for Professional Theatre 2017
A WEEK OF EXCEPTIONAL OPPORTUNITIES….
This exciting new course provided an excellent opportunity for students 16 years and over who wish to further their knowledge of theatre and performance skills, perfectly targeted at those who already attend or are looking to apply to Drama Schools.
This rigorous and intensive course offered training in acting, direction, voice and movement along with specialised sessions, focusing on auditioning, production, stage combat and musical theatre.
What a fabulous week it was and enjoyed by all involved!
